Nigerian football icon Ikhana fighting back from illness”

Former Nigerian footballer and coach, Kadiri Ikhana, has said he is feeling better as he continues to recover from an illness that has kept him in bed for some time.

Speaking over the phone with fellow ex-footballer Dr. Segun Odegbami, Ikhana said he is getting good treatment, thanks to support from his family and kind-hearted Nigerians.

Dr. Odegbami shared the update:
“At 6:30 this morning, my phone rang. It was Kadiri Ikhana. Though his voice was weak, he said he is getting better. He is still receiving care at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Edo State.”

Ikhana asked Nigerians to keep praying for him and thanked everyone who has shown support. His children, who are based abroad, are also helping with his care.

Several important individuals and organizations have stepped in to assist, including:

  • The Chairman of AirPeace
  • The Governor of Kwara State
  • The President of the Nigeria Football Federation
  • The Comptroller-General of Customs
  • The Governor of Edo State, who sent a team to visit Ikhana and offered to cover his medical costs

Dr. Odegbami gave special thanks to Hon. Austin Braimoh for his ongoing support and friendship with Ikhana.

He ended by urging all Nigerians to continue praying for Ikhana, calling him a national football hero.
