The drama began when Badmus commented on a photo Aiyeola posted on Instagram, asking: “Opeyemi, where is your hairline?” What was allegedly meant as a joke didn’t sit well with Aiyeola, who called the comment disrespectful and hurtful.
Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has addressed her online fallout with fellow actress Eniola Badmus, following a controversial remark made by Badmus on social media about Aiyeola’s hairline.
The drama began when Badmus commented on a photo Aiyeola posted on Instagram, asking: “Opeyemi, where is your hairline?” What was allegedly meant as a joke didn’t sit well with Aiyeola, who called the comment disrespectful and hurtful.
In a video shared on social media, Aiyeola stated that their lack of a real friendship made the remark even more inappropriate.
“We are not close. Since I joined social media, you’ve never liked or commented on my posts, and I’ve never done same to you. We’re not enemies, but that comment was unnecessary.”
Though Badmus later apologized and claimed it was all in jest, Aiyeola said she deleted the comment because the apology didn’t feel sincere. She added that the real sting came from fans who jumped in to mock her based on Badmus’ words.
“I wasn’t even pained until others began using that comment to insult me,” she said.
“People should stop hiding behind ‘jokes’ to embarrass others.”
In a recent interview with Oyinmomo TV, Aiyeola further explained that she normally ignores social media trolls, but coming from a colleague—especially one who has publicly faced body-shaming in the past—it crossed a line.
“Eniola knows how social media works. She’s experienced worse. So why throw shade that could invite mockery?”
