Popular Nigerian musician Jesse King, widely known for his cultural sound and signature long cap, has opened up about a recent transformation in his personal style and musical approach, all in a bid to connect with Gen Z.
In an interview, King revealed that he shortened his trademark cap to make himself more relatable to younger audiences.
According to him, the decision reflects a broader effort to adapt his brand to suit the fast-evolving preferences of today’s generation.
“In this generation where things move so fast, I had to ask myself how best to present my brand to them,” he said. “So I went back to the drawing board, restructured a few things, toned down my lyrics to be more accessible, yet still rich in value.”
The veteran singer acknowledged that the changes go beyond his sound, noting a significant shift in his appearance as well.
“It has taken me a while to come to terms with this shift, even in how I look,” he added. “You’ll notice my cap is shorter now. I did that intentionally, so the younger ones won’t look at me and think, ‘Who is this herbalist?’” he said with a laugh.
