Troops of the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army, under Sector 1 of Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), have apprehended 183 suspected internet fraudsters in a targeted raid in Warri, Delta State, as part of efforts to curb cybercrime in the region.
The operation, conducted on July 19 following credible intelligence, was disclosed by Brigade Spokesman Capt. Iliyasu Bawa in a press statement issued on Sunday in Asaba.
The suspects fraudsters, all male aged 16 to 29, were arrested in multiple apartments identified as an internet fraud training hub in Warri.
Items seized during the raid included 274 laptops, 87 mobile phones, nine laptop chargers, one table phone, and two WiFi devices, according to Capt. Bawa. The confiscated equipment is believed to have been used in cybercriminal activities.
