Ayra Starr makes history with new certification

Nigerian singer and songwriter Sarah Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, also known as Ayra Starr, has made history as the first African artist to earn a Latin Diamond certification.

Ayra earned this certification with her international collaboration with Rvssian and Rauw Alejandro, ‘Santa’. The track was certified Latin Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Santa which was released in 2024 has grossed over 35 million streams.

Ayra joins Rema who is currently the only African artists with RIAA Latin Platinum certification.

The 23-year-old has been making bold moves in the music industry since her debut in 2022.
