Daniel Dubois, gracious in defeat, pledged to return stronger after suffering a knockout loss to Oleksandr Usyk in their heavyweight title rematch on Saturday, at Wembley Stadium.
The 27-year-old British fighter, who aimed to become the first British undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999, spoke to DAZN following the fifth-round stoppage.
“I have to commend him on the performance. I gave everything I had,” Dubois said, acknowledging Usyk’s masterful display.
“Take no credit away from that man. I’ll be back.”

Dubois, reflecting on the fight, admitted the challenge of facing the elusive Ukrainian.
“I was just fighting, trying to pick up round by round. It is what it is,” he stated.
Despite landing an uppercut and body shots in the early rounds, Dubois struggled to penetrate Usyk’s defense, as the 38-year-old reclaimed the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF titles before 90,000 fans.
The loss marks a setback for Dubois, who had built momentum with knockout victories over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua.
However, his resilience and determination to regroup signal a promising future.
As Usyk considers a break, Dubois’ vow to return sets the stage for his next chapter in the competitive heavyweight division.
