Kogi University lecturer dies in hotel room during alleged sex romp with student

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the sudden and tragic death of Mr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle, a lecturer in the Department of Social Science Education at Prince Abubakar Audu University, located in Anyigba, Kogi State.

According to reports, Mr. Ibikunle died while spending time at a hotel with a female undergraduate student, Miss Glory Ojochegbe Samuel. She is said to be a 200-level student of the same university and is identified by her matriculation number: 24GE1034.

Eyewitness accounts and preliminary police findings suggest that the incident took place in a private hotel in Anyigba. After some time together, the student reportedly realized that the lecturer had become unresponsive.

Alarmed, she immediately called the attention of the hotel receptionist. Together, they rushed him to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save his life. Unfortunately, on arrival at the hospital, he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.

The police were notified, and the matter was initially reported at the Anyigba police station.

The student, Miss Samuel, was later transferred to Lokoja, the state capital, for further questioning.

The police spokesperson, William Aya, stated that the case has now been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Kogi State Police Command, which will lead a detailed investigation into the matter.

The exact cause of death is still unknown, and detectives are working to gather all the necessary facts.

In the meantime, Miss Samuel remains in police custody while investigations continue.

In response to the unfortunate incident, the university management has issued an official statement expressing deep sorrow and concern.

The statement, which was signed by the university’s Registrar, Barrister Yahaya Segun Alilu, described the development as both “tragic and disturbing.” The school authorities offered their condolences to the family of the deceased and stated that they are working closely with law enforcement agencies to support the ongoing investigation.
