Lagos govt shuts down Lekki nightclub

Quick Read

The club will stay closed until it installs proper soundproofing and passes an inspection by LASEPA to make sure it meets the noise limit.

The Lagos State Government has shut down Light House Club, a nightclub on Admiralty Way in Lekki, because it was making too much noise.

A team made up of officers from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps and the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) carried out the operation on Monday.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, shared the news on X (formerly Twitter).

He said the club was closed because it kept breaking noise rules, even after being warned several times.

He explained that the club didn’t follow Lagos State’s noise control laws, so the authorities had to step in.

“The club will stay closed until it installs proper soundproofing and passes an inspection by LASEPA to make sure it meets the noise limit”.

Wahab added that the government will not allow entertainment places to break environmental rules.

“Our laws must be followed. People in Lagos have the right to live in peace, and that matters more than business profits,” he said.
