Peter Obi already planning to dump ADC – Kachikwu
Former African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, has claimed that Peter Obi is making plans to leave the ADC barely weeks after joining the opposition coalition.
Obi, who ran on the Labour Party (LP) platform in 2023, teamed up with other opposition figures earlier this month to launch the ADC as a coalition party to challenge the ruling APC in 2027. Just two days later, Obi declared his 2027 ambition, while still holding his LP membership card.
But Kachikwu insists Obi’s presidential bid under ADC is a mirage, alleging the party has been hijacked to serve the ambitions of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Kachikwu said:
“The whole ADC structure is being packaged for Atiku Abubakar. From the start, I warned people about what was happening. Now, Peter Obi understands the coalition was never real—it was just a vehicle for Atiku’s ambition. From our information, Obi is already looking elsewhere.”
He added that other aspirants now realise the coalition was a façade and vowed to resist what he called “class exploitation” ahead of the 2027 polls.
“We will not allow this to happen. Nigerians must know their power. We will educate and inform the people to stop these political games,” he declared
