Football Transfer: Arsenal seal £64m deal for Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal have finally reached an agreement with Sporting CP to sign striker Viktor Gyokeres.

According to The Athletic, the deal is worth £64 million, including add-ons. The main part of the transfer is £54.8 million, with an additional £8.6 million in potential bonuses.

Although the two clubs had agreed on the basic terms earlier, there were still disagreements about bonus conditions, which delayed the final deal.

Arsenal have made signing a new striker their top priority this summer. However, this deal with Gyokeres has been difficult and was close to falling apart.

Gyokeres even refused to attend Sporting’s pre-season training and reportedly threatened to go on strike. Sporting’s president, Frederico Varandas, warned that the player could face punishment for his actions.
