Gospel singer Chidinma Ekile has shared a harrowing account of her spiritual encounter during a 40-day fast and prayer retreat, revealing that she narrowly escaped death during the intense experience.
Speaking to a congregation, the singer said she embarked on the spiritual journey in search of divine direction after returning from the United States.
Choosing isolation in a mountainous bush area, she described how she battled temptations and spiritual attacks, including a chilling moment where the devil allegedly tried to make her jump off a cliff.
“While I was on the mountain, the enemy tried everything to take me before my time,” Chidinma said. “The devil took me to the top of the mountain at night and told me to jump. The voice was so strong. But something held me back.”
Chidinma likened her experience to a spiritual surgery, saying God stripped her of worldly desires and filled her with renewed purpose and peace. She added that the encounter gave her a new perspective on life, love, and fulfillment beyond material possessions.
“I cried, I prayed, I lost weight. But I found God in a way I never had before,” she said. “Jesus is King.”
The singer, known for transitioning from secular music to gospel, emphasized that she no longer seeks validation from fame or wealth. Her testimony follows the release of her latest gospel album, The Road Best Travelled.
