Ortom knocks ADC alliance: ‘It won’t survive’

Former Benue State governor and PDP chieftain, Samuel Ortom, has poured cold water on the chances of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, saying it is doomed to fail.

Ortom, who spoke on Channels Television Politics Today on Monday, was blunt:

“People are free to join any coalition they wish, but for me and the people I lead, we remain in PDP. I am the leader of PDP in Benue and a member of the BoT. We have no business with that,” he declared.

The ex-governor didn’t mince words about the coalition’s prospects:

“I don’t see it surviving. Even if they survive the ongoing litigation, they’ll be defeated hands down.”

His comments come as opposition figures scramble to form new alliances ahead of the 2027 elections to challenge APC’s dominance.

On why he opposed Atiku Abubakar in 2023, Ortom stood his ground:

“How can a northerner rule for eight years and another northerner from the same ethnic group take over for another eight years? Our democracy hasn’t gotten to that level. We believed in a southern presidency, not northern.”

He insisted it was only fair for power to shift after Buhari’s eight-year rule
