Breaking: Two Osun Reps dump PDP amid deepening crisis
Osun State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been hit by another wave of resignations as two members of the House of Representatives, Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro and Omirin Emmanuel Olusanya, announced their exit from the party.
Ajilesoro, who represents Ife Federal Constituency, and Omirin, who represents Ijesa South, cited persistent internal wrangling, irreconcilable divisions, and endless legal battles as reasons for their decision.
In a letter to his ward chairman, Ajilesoro described the move as “difficult but necessary,” stressing that PDP’s internal crisis had made continued membership incompatible with his political convictions.
Omirin, in a separate letter, said he could no longer cope with the “wrangling factors and deep divisions” that have plagued the party.
The latest exits add to a growing list of PDP heavyweights abandoning the party in Osun. In recent weeks, Senator Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East), Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central), and Hon. Oluwole Oke (Ijesa North) also dumped the party.
PDP, which dominated the state in the 2023 elections, now faces an uncertain future as speculation mounts over mass defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2026 governorship race.
