The Lagos State Government has launched its third-quarter training programmes to enhance professional excellence and service delivery across its public service workforce.

Over 500 officers from various sectors have participated in targeted capacity-building sessions, underscoring the state’s commitment to human capital development.

A two-day workshop themed “Strategic Corporate Communication and Media Relations” trained 100 Public Affairs Officers (Grade Levels 13–17) to strengthen communication strategies, manage public perception, and boost citizen engagement.

Another session, “Budgeting and Fiscal Management,” equipped 200 Budget and Planning Officers with modern budgeting techniques and fiscal discipline to support Lagos’ developmental goals. Additionally, 200 Land Officers underwent training on “Land Documentation and Titling” to improve transparency and expedite land administration processes, including Certificates of Occupancy.

Facilitated by experts from public, private, and academic sectors, each programme spanned at least two days. Upcoming sessions for Finance and Accounts Officers and Auditors will focus on “Public Sector Finance Reporting Standard,” emphasizing compliance with global financial reporting frameworks.

Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Afolabi Ayantayo, highlighted the initiative’s role in fostering a dynamic and responsive public service.

“These programs are strategic interventions to equip our workforce with the skills needed for efficient governance,” he said, crediting Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s support for prioritizing continuous professional development.

Permanent Secretary Olubusola Abidakun described the trainings as part of a broader vision to create a forward-looking, performance-driven public service.

She praised the high turnout, expert facilitators, and participant engagement, vowing to sustain the momentum in future sessions.

The initiative reflects Lagos State’s resolve to build a future-ready public service capable of meeting evolving governance demands.
