Governor Sule speaks on shielding herdsmen responsible for Benue massacre

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has slammed allegations linking him to shielding armed herdsmen allegedly behind the recent massacre in Benue State, branding the claims as “baseless” and “unsubstantiated.”

The accusations came after a viral video by Prof. Zachary Anger Gundu, former Pro-Chancellor of Benue State University, claimed Sule was “masking killings” and grabbing Tiv farmlands to hand over to Fulani herdsmen.

Addressing reporters in Lafia, the governor’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Addra, said:

“We are dismayed that Prof. Gundu could stoop so low by making such reckless allegations against Governor Abdullahi Sule and the Government of Nasarawa State.”

Addra stressed that the state government shares in the grief of Benue people but will not tolerate falsehood. He warned that Sule might sue unless there is a public apology and a retraction:

“We challenge Prof. Gundu to provide empirical evidence or face legal action. Enough of the lies.”

The governor, who also chairs the North-Central Governors’ Forum, insisted his administration remains committed to peace across the region.
