The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State has inaugurated a 23-member campaign council ahead of the state’s November 18 governorship election.
The inauguration, which took place on Friday at the party’s secretariat in Awka, featured the unveiling of a team comprising 19 men and 4 women drawn from the coalition of political groups supporting the ADC.
The party’s governorship candidate, Mr. John Nwosu, a technology expert, presided over the inauguration ceremony. He announced that the official campaign would commence on August 9.
Nwosu said the council, chaired by Mr. Ike Iwenofu, was made up of individuals with integrity and track records of leadership. He charged them to uphold unity, trust, and grassroots mobilization as they begin the campaign.
“We must avoid gossip, trust ourselves, and resolve our differences through the proper channels. Our work is at the grassroots, and we have no time to waste,” Nwosu urged.
Highlighting the ADC’s vision, he encouraged members to familiarize themselves with the party’s seven-point manifesto, which includes security, health, education, economy, environment, market reform, and social welfare.
Nwosu noted that recent visits to local government areas revealed pressing issues like unaffordable housing, insecurity, and multiple taxation, which he pledged to tackle if elected governor.
Responding on behalf of the campaign council, Chairman Ike Iwenofu expressed gratitude for the opportunity and promised to lead the team with dedication. He also emphasized that their campaign would focus on issues, leveraging technology for strategic outreach.
