The Federal Government has set a six-week deadline for the completion of the Renewed Hope City housing project in Kano State, affirming its commitment to bridging Nigeria’s housing deficit.
Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmad Musa-Dangiwa, gave the directive during an inspection visit to the project site on Friday.
He expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, stating that construction aligns with approved standards.
“The quality of construction is satisfactory and meets the required standards. The pace of work is commendable and on schedule,” Musa-Dangiwa said.
He emphasized that the contractor must complete all outstanding work by the end of August to allow for timely commissioning and allocation to Nigerians in need of affordable housing.
Although there have been slight modifications to the initial design, the minister clarified that all changes were approved and within acceptable limits. He also praised the Kano State Controller of Housing for effective supervision.
“The remaining work mostly involves internal finishing and external infrastructure like electrification and water reticulation,” he added.
During the tour, the minister inspected a damaged section of the site’s tarred road, which was compromised due to use by heavy-duty trucks. He directed the contractor to repair the road and install metal barricades to restrict access by such vehicles.
Also present during the visit were the Minister of State for Housing, Yusuf Abdullahi-Attah, and top officials of the ministry.
