Leave if you’re bitter – PDP fires back at Fayose
Quick Read
Adeleke said Fayose’s recent actions—especially his open support for the APC government in Ekiti—are unacceptable.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has called out former governor Ayodele Fayose, calling him a betrayer and asking him to leave the party.
This happened after Fayose appeared on Channels TV and said the PDP is “dead.” In response, the PDP’s Caretaker Committee Chairman in Ekiti, Dare Adeleke, released a statement criticizing Fayose.
He said Fayose has repeatedly betrayed the party that helped him become governor twice.
Adeleke said Fayose’s recent actions especially his open support for the APC government in Ekiti are unacceptable.
He claimed Fayose turned against the PDP because his attempts to control the party’s structure in Ekiti were blocked.
According to Adeleke, Fayose is no longer politically relevant in the state. He added that no PDP leaders or officials are following Fayose, which shows his influence is gone.
“Why is Fayose still in a party he calls dead?” Adeleke asked. “He admitted he’s bitter and angry because he didn’t get his way. He supports Tinubu because they are friends and from the same area, as if leadership is based on tribe and not merit.”
He also said Fayose tried to control two local government areas but failed. “If he really had influence, he would have taken PDP members with him to APC or another party. But no one followed him.”
Adeleke said the PDP is still strong in Ekiti and confident about winning next year’s elections.
He concluded, “Fayose is the king of betrayal, but PDP will win. We will rely on real party loyalists, not his supporters who have no real political weight.”
