A prolonged disruption in electricity supply is expected to affect parts of Lagos State and surrounding areas starting from Monday, July 28, 2025.

A prolonged disruption in electricity supply is expected to affect parts of Lagos State and surrounding areas starting from Monday, July 28, 2025, PM News has learnt.

This is due to planned maintenance work by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on a critical power line.

According to a public notice released on Friday, July 25, the TCN announced that it will carry out daily maintenance work on the Omotosho to Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.

The work is scheduled to take place every day between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., continuing until Thursday, August 21, 2025 a period of 25 days in total.

The company explained that the maintenance activities may result in reduced electricity transmission across its network.

This could lead to temporary power outages and load shedding, especially in areas connected to the affected transmission line.

Although the announcement did not specify exactly which communities or neighborhoods will be impacted, the Omotosho–Ikeja West line plays a significant role in delivering electricity to several parts of Lagos and its environs. As a result, both residents and businesses are advised to prepare for possible periods of limited or unstable power supply throughout the maintenance period.

The TCN expressed regret over the expected inconvenience and appealed for the public’s patience and cooperation. It emphasized that the maintenance is necessary in order to improve the efficiency, safety, and long-term reliability of Nigeria’s power grid infrastructure.

The public is encouraged to make necessary arrangements to manage the impact of the power disruption, especially those who rely heavily on electricity for their day-to-day operations or household needs.
