Nigeria’s Super Falcons capped their triumphant 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign with two prestigious individual awards, as goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and captain Rasheedat Ajibade were recognized for their outstanding performances.
Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak earned the Golden Boot, highlighting the fierce competition at the tournament’s conclusion on Saturday in Rabat.
Nnadozie, Nigeria’s formidable shot-stopper, was named the Best Goalkeeper of WAFCON 2024, a testament to her pivotal role in the Super Falcons’ 10th continental title win.
Nnadozie, 24, conceded just two goals from open play across six matches, delivering crucial saves, including in the thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Morocco in the final.
Her commanding presence and composure under pressure solidified Nigeria’s defensive resilience, earning her widespread acclaim.
Ajibade, the Super Falcons’ captain, was crowned Player of the Tournament, recognized for her leadership, versatility, and relentless drive.
The 25-year-old forward played a central role in Nigeria’s attacking prowess, contributing key assists and setting the tone for the team’s dramatic turnaround in the final.
