Former NAFDAC boss Paul Orhii quits PDP, joins ADC for ‘national rescue mission’

Former Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Paul Orhii, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Orhii, who contested for the Benue governorship ticket under the PDP in the 2019 and 2023 elections, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the chairman of the Atirkyese Council Ward in Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State.

“After intensive consultations with my family, friends, supporters, and political associates across the country and beyond, I have decided to resign from the PDP with immediate effect,” he wrote.

Explaining his decision, the former NAFDAC boss said he was aligning with progressive-minded Nigerians in the ADC as part of what he described as “a national rescue mission.”

He added: “This move will enable me to join other Nigerians in charting a new direction for the country under the ADC.”

Orhii, however, thanked the PDP for the opportunity it gave him to serve at the federal level.

“I remain eternally grateful to the PDP for giving me the platform to serve my country,” he said.
