2027: Why no governor will oppose Tinubu - Gov. Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has said it will be nearly impossible for any Nigerian governor to oppose President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Governor Sani made the remark on Tuesday during the opening of a two-day interactive session organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation at Arewa House in Kaduna.

According to him, President Tinubu has provided more support to state governments than any other leader in the country’s democratic history.

“No president in Nigeria’s history has supported governors and sub-national governments the way President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently doing,” the governor said.

He added that such cooperation makes it unlikely for any governor to go against Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

The event, themed “Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-Citizen Engagement for National Unity,” attracted key stakeholders from the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Among those present were former governors, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organisations, and technocrats.

Governor Sani also hailed the Federal Government’s recent approach to security, particularly its willingness to engage with non-state actors in northern Nigeria.

“For the first time, the government is holding direct discussions with non-state actors to assess progress in the region. This is a significant change and shows a new level of seriousness,” he said.
