Ex-NBA star Marcus Morris Sr. arrested in Florida
Former NBA forward Marcus Morris Sr. has been arrested in Florida over an alleged fraud involving a bounced check.
The 35-year-old, who played for several NBA teams including the Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, and most recently the Cleveland Cavaliers, was picked up on Sunday, July 27, in Broward County.
According to USA Today, arrest records show the ex-baller was taken in over writing a check with insufficient funds.
His twin brother, Markieff Morris, took to social media to defend him, claiming the situation was being blown out of proportion.
“The wording is crazy,” Markieff posted on X. “Damn, for that amount of money they’ll embarrass you in the airport with your family.”
Marcus, a 13-year veteran in the league, played with the Suns from 2013 to 2015 before stints with the Pistons, Knicks, Clippers, 76ers, and others. He also appeared as a guest analyst on ESPN during the 2023–24 season.
This isn’t the first time the Morris twins have made headlines off the court. Back in 2015, both brothers were charged with aggravated assault over a violent altercation outside a basketball tournament in Phoenix. They were eventually acquitted in 2017.
