Ijebu Tragedy: Stray elephant tramples man to death in Ogun

A middle-aged man identified as Musa Kalamu has been reportedly killed by a stray elephant in the Itasin-Imobi community, located in the Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State.

According to local sources, the elephant is believed to have wandered from a nearby government forest reserve into the community, where it attacked and fatally injured Kalamu.

The tragic incident has sparked concern among residents, who are calling on authorities to strengthen wildlife containment measures around protected forest zones.

Eyewitnesses say the elephant appeared agitated before it charged at the victim. Despite attempts by locals to intervene, Kalamu was pronounced dead at the scene.

Community leaders have urged the state government and relevant wildlife agencies to investigate the incident and take steps to prevent a recurrence.

As of the time of reporting, officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Forestry and Environmental Protection had not issued an official statement.
