Jay-Z’s alleged son bows out, withdraws lawsuit
The long-running paternity drama between hip-hop billionaire Jay-Z and a 30-year-old man claiming to be his son has taken a new twist as the accuser has dropped his lawsuit.
Rymir Satterthwaite, who has been publicly insisting that the rapper is his biological father for years, announced the withdrawal of his federal case in an Instagram video posted on Saturday, July 27.
“I did withdraw my case,” he said, hinting at undisclosed forces at play. “There’s a lot going on behind closed doors… but I haven’t stopped fighting. We’re playing chess, not checkers.”
Rymir alleged that Jay-Z had an affair with his late mother, Wanda Satterthwaite, back in the 1990s, which led to his birth. Though the case has been circulating in the courts for years, the recent lawsuit aimed to reopen the matter at a federal level.
But Jay-Z’s lawyers were having none of it. In a court document filed June 16, Jay-Z’S legal team described the claim as “fabricated” and part of a “decades-long harassment campaign.”
“This case was never properly served,” they said, adding that Jay-Z only became aware of the lawsuit nearly a month after it was filed. They asked the court for more time to evaluate the complaint and consider how best to respond.
Interestingly, Rymir was not seeking backdated child support but rather damages for what he described as emotional distress and reputational harm. In the filing, he accused Jay-Z of “misrepresenting facts, exploiting legal systems, and committing fraud upon multiple courts” to allegedly suppress the paternity claim.
Jay-Z, who shares three children, Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir with his wife, Beyonce, has consistently refused to take a paternity test to put the matter to rest. His legal team insists multiple courts have already thrown out the case.
Still, Rymir says he’s not backing down.
“You think it’s over?” he said on Instagram. “It’s just the opening.”
