Ladoja's ascension to the throne follows Ibadan's distinctive succession tradition, which rotates the Olubadan stool between the civil and military lines.

The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has pledged to swiftly fill vacant positions in the Olubadan Chieftaincy line, ensuring a seamless transition following the passing of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Ladoja made this commitment known while hosting Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, the Asipa Olubadan of Ibadanland, at his Lagos residence.

He praised the late Oba Olakulehin, saying he lived an impactful life and gave a good account of himself.

He said, “I was not in Ibadan when the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin joined his ancestors, on Monday, July 7, 2025.”

“Kabiyesi Olakulehin lived an impactful life and gave a good account of himself.

“There would be no delay in filling every pending vacancy in the Olubadan chieftaincy line,” he stated.

Oba Olakulehin passed away on July 7, 2025, at the age of 90, just before his first coronation anniversary.
