The The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has summoned the Coordinator of Enyimba International Football Club of Aba to appear before it on Thursday in response to allegations Premier Football League (NPFL) has summoned the Coordinator of Enyimba International Football Club of Aba to appear before it on Thursday in response to allegations made by former Super Eagles player Brown Ideye.
Ideye accused the club of poor treatment of its players, revealing harsh financial conditions and a lack of concern for player welfare.
He claimed that players were paid as little as ₦7,000 per day, sometimes ₦8,000, and sometimes not even ₦7,000, for their entire daily upkeep. He stressed this amount was not meant to cover individual meals but the whole day.
NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye confirmed the summon and said that since Ideye’s claims were public, Enyimba must also publicly share its side of the story. He stated that the Coordinator, who also serves as the club’s Sporting Director, had already been contacted and was asked to respond publicly.
Elegbeleye emphasized that the explanation given so far lacked credibility and that the club representative must meet the NPFL by Thursday following the Annual General Meeting to address the issue directly.
