PDP demands reinstatement of Senator Natasha
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria’s North Central zone has demanded the reinstatement of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing her recent suspension from the Senate as unjust and undemocratic.
At its inaugural zonal meeting held on Monday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, the party strongly condemned the action, warning that Senator Natasha’s continued absence from the National Assembly is a disservice to her constituents in Kogi Central and a setback for women’s representation in politics.
The meeting, chaired by the North Central leadership of the PDP, issued a communiqué signed by the Zonal Secretary, Hon. Francis Orogu, who insisted that the suspension “undermines democratic representation” and called on Senate President Godswill Akpabio to lift it without delay.
“Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has shown courage and commitment to service. She is not alone in this fight. We stand with her and urge the leadership of the National Assembly to reinstate her immediately,” Orogu said.
The party also passed a vote of confidence in the zonal leadership led by Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, commending him for a successful zonal congress and for working to unify the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
On security, the PDP expressed deep concern over rising violence across the North Central and urged religious leaders to focus on promoting moral values rather than dabbling in partisan politics. The party also called on the Federal Government to address insecurity and avoid distractions linked to early politicking for 2027.
