Esther Okoronkwo named Fans’ Player of the Tournament at WAFCON 2024

Super Falcons star, Esther Okoronkwo, has been crowned the Fans’ Player of the Tournament at the just-concluded 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Okoronkwo, 27, lit up the tournament with two goals and six assists in six matches. She also bagged two Woman of the Match awards for her standout performances.

The announcement was made on the official Super Falcons X handle, with a post that read: “Clutch. Composed. Crowned by the people.”

She beat fellow Super Falcons teammates Rasheedat Ajibade, Folashade Ijamilusi, Ashleigh Plumptre, Chiwendu Ihezuo, and Jennifer Echegini to win the fan vote.

Nigeria lifted the WAFCON trophy for a record 10th time after a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over hosts Morocco in the final.
