Hawaii governor breaks silence as tsunami waves hit

Hawaii Governor Josh Green has finally broken his silence following reports that tsunami waves have begun hitting the island state.

Speaking in the early hours of Tuesday, the governor confirmed that while “no wave of consequence” has been observed so far, there’s been a noticeable recession of water, a classic warning sign.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center had earlier announced that waves were “now impacting Hawaii,” urging residents to take “urgent action to protect lives and property.”

Governor Green warned that it could take up to three more hours before an “all clear” can be given, stressing that wave activity hasn’t yet moved past the island of Hawaii.

Residents have been told to remain on alert as authorities monitor the situation closely.
