In a thrilling display of power and precision, Muyideen Oyakojo claimed the National Bantamweight Title with a stunning second-round knockout over Yinka Williams, sending shockwaves through the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
The much-anticipated bout, scheduled for 10 rounds at three minutes each, was expected to be a closely fought contest between two evenly matched opponents—Oyakojo weighing in at 53.5 kg and Williams at 53.0 kg.
However, the tide shifted dramatically when Oyakojo, from Itaepo, Ile Ago Compound in Iseyin Local Government Area, delivered a decisive blow just 35 seconds into the second round, securing a technical knockout and the national crown.

“I give all praise and gratitude to Allah for His constant mercy over me,” Oyakojo said in his post-fight remarks.
“This victory is not mine alone—it belongs to everyone who stood by me: Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, my coaches Jumbo Michael and Ajisafe Wahab, and every supporter who believed in me.”

He added, “This is just the beginning. I’m focused, I’m ready, and with Allah’s help, I intend to take this title even further.”
The electrifying event attracted fans from Lagos, Ogun, and across the Southwest, highlighting the growing popularity of boxing in the region.
The match was officiated by Referee Seyi George, with judges Tayo Olaifa, Constance Chinagorom, and Seyi Ajao scoring the fight.
It was held under the supervision of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC), led by President Dr. Rafiu Oladipo.
Event stewards included Gloves Master Oladipo Babalola, Ring Marshal Adewale Abe, and Time Keepers Titilope Ogunkunle and Prince Ade Olofin.
Medical coverage was provided by Dr. Tajudeen Sule and Dr. Chike Ilukwe, while Remi Aboderin, General Secretary of the NBBofC, coordinated the event.
With this emphatic win, Muyideen Oyakojo not only cements his status as Nigeria’s National Bantamweight Champion but also signals his readiness to compete on both national and continental stages.
