Former Barcelona player Carles Perez was taken to the hospital in Greece after being bitten on his genitals by a dog.
The 27-year-old was walking his own dog in Thermi, a suburb of Thessaloniki, when the incident happened. He was trying to break up a fight between his dog and another dog when he was bitten.
Perez was taken to a private hospital in Panorama, where he received six stitches for a deep cut.
His new club, Aris FC where he is currently on loan from Celta Vigo confirmed that he developed a soft tissue infection from the bite.
As a result, he will miss Thursday’s UEFA Conference League match against Araz-Nakhchivan.
Aris FC’s manager, Marinos Ouzounidis, said Perez was expected to start in the game.
He added, “This incident happened, but we can’t dwell on it. I’m focusing on the players I have available now.”
Perez joined Aris FC recently and was already playing an important role in the team before the injury.
