Obaship: Ladoja’s fate hangs as Olubadan-in-Council meets Monday

The Olubadan-in-Council is set to commence deliberations on the appointment of Oba Rasidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Monday, August 4, 2025.

The meeting will hold at the new Olubadan palace located in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The notice of meeting was issued by the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Thursday.

This significant meeting follows the expiration of the 21-day mourning period for the late 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

All High Chiefs of Ibadanland are expected to attend the council meeting. Oba Rasidi Ladoja, the Olubadan-designate and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, who has been away since the demise of the late Kabiyesi, is also expected to be present.

Reports say  that Oba Ladoja will return to Ibadan over the weekend, having received visitors at his Lagos residence since Oba Olakulehin’s passing.

In a related development, the final burial ceremony for Oba Owolabi Olakulehin is scheduled for Friday, August 8, 2025, at Saint Peter’s Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan.
