Super Falcons coach, Justine Madugu was rewarded with a three-bedroom bungalow and ₦50 million for leading his team to their historic 10th WAFCON victory courtesy Ahmadu Fintri, the governor of his home state of Adamawa on Friday,

Fintiri announced the reward for Madugu at a reception held at the Government House in Yola on Friday

The Super Falcons’ Coach received a hero’s welcome at the reception.

Speaking at the event, Governor Fintiri commended the Coach’s technical brilliance and commitment to national glory.

“It is a proud moment for us in Adamawa that one of our own has led Nigeria to victory on the continental stage,” Fintiri said.

“His technical intelligence and focus have brought honor not just to Nigeria but to Adamawa State as well.”

The reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to developing sports infrastructure and nurturing talent across the state.

“We will continue to invest in sports. I urge you, Coach Madugu, to return home and help nurture more young talents.

“Your achievements are an inspiration, and we want you to be part of the sporting renaissance in Adamawa State.”

Responding, Madugu, who said he was overwhelmed by the gestures, thanked the governor and people of Adamawa State for the warm reception.

“I’m overwhelmed by what is happening today. I thank God and the government of Adamawa State for this recognition,” he said.

Madugu also revealed that he was motivated by the need to prove that northerners can lead at the highest levels: “When I took up this role, I saw it as a challenge to prove that northerners, too, can lead at the highest levels. It was a personal mission to leave a legacy that will inspire respect for our state.”

The Super Falcons Coach however called for sustained efforts to promote women’s participation in sports.

He also called for removal of ultural and religious barriers that often hinder female athletes from reaching their full potentials.
