The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has announced its commitment to the war against piracy in the country.

The NCC  in collaboration with the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), clamped down on a known illegal website MovieBox.ng. The site was known for illegally streaming pirated movies, music, and live sports.

On Thursday, the he NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Ijeoma Egbunike, released a statement. The Director-General of the commission, Dr. John Asein also confirmed the action taken.

“They use multiple mirror domains to access and promote pirated content, with domain histories linked to known piracy operations,” Asein said.

The NCC also revealed that it is conduction a monitoring operation to disable other illegal sites. He also warned the general public against using illegal platforms.
