2027: Senator Ned Nwoko takes decision on leaving APC

Sen. Ned Nwoko

Quick Read

His move was widely welcomed by his supporters and constituents, who described it as a strategic decision at a critical time in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Senator Ned Nwoko of Delta North has no intention of leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to Hon. Leonard Esegbue, Director General of the Ned Nwoko Campaign Organisation and a former commissioner.

Esegbue dismissed recent rumours suggesting that the senator was planning to defect from the APC, describing them as the handiwork of “mischief makers” envious of Nwoko’s growing political profile.

He reassured constituents in Delta North and Nigerians at large that the senator remains fully committed to the ruling party.

He stressed that there is no rift between Nwoko and President Bola Tinubu, adding that the speculation was aimed at sowing discord ahead of the 2027 general elections, for which Nwoko is a staunch supporter of the President’s re-election bid.

“The rumours are baseless and only serve to create unnecessary tension. Senator Nwoko is fully aligned with the APC’s mission and will continue to pursue his political agenda within the party,” Esegbue said.

He urged those behind the speculations to focus on constructive political engagement rather than spreading falsehoods, and affirmed that any future political decisions or announcements involving Nwoko would be made under the banner of the APC.

Senator Nwoko joined the APC on February 5, 2025, after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His move was widely welcomed by his supporters and constituents, who described it as a strategic decision at a critical time in Nigeria’s political landscape.
