Babcock University, Ilishan, Remo, Ogun state is set to host the upcoming 8th edition of the Nigerian Private University Games (NPUGA), an exciting platform that brings together student-athletes from private universities across the country to compete, connect, and celebrate sporting excellence.

Speaking with PM News, the university’s Director of Sports, Dr. Osundina Olasunkanmi, expressed confidence in Babcock’s readiness to host the event scheduled for August 12 -22 2025.

He revealed that in 2024, eight private universities visited Babcock for a mini tournament. During their visit, they assessed the school’s sports infrastructure and facilities. After their evaluation, they held a meeting and unanimously selected Babcock University as the host for the next NPUGA games.

Dr. Osundina emphasized that NPUGA is more than just a sporting competition. It’s a platform where students from different backgrounds come together to display their talents, build friendships, and exchange ideas in a spirit of unity and sportsmanship.

He highlighted the event’s role in youth development, saying it encourages students to channel their energy into productive activities, thereby steering them away from social vices.

According to him, sports can be a powerful tool to shape character, develop discipline, and nurture talent that can grow to national and international levels.

He noted that recent victories by Nigeria’s national women’s teams the Super Falcons and D’Tigress have served as powerful motivation for young athletes across the country. Their success on the international stage and the recognition they’ve received have shown that hard work and dedication in sports can lead to national pride and personal reward.

With a strong track record of excellence and a commitment to holistic student development, Babcock University is preparing to welcome participants from over 30  private universities across Nigeria for what promises to be an unforgettable NPUGA experience.

The Private university games will see athletes from  over 30 institutions participate in 8 games from August 12 -22nd, 2025 at the University campuses.
