Atiku’s camp unmasks power brokers behind ADC’s 2027 presidential ticket
The camp of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared that only party delegates will decide who emerges as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, made this known in a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday, amid growing interest and speculation over the opposition coalition’s next move.
Brushing aside concerns over the number of aspirants eyeing the ticket, Ibe said there’s nothing wrong with ambition, stressing that the final decision lies in the hands of party delegates.
“There’s nothing wrong in all of them wanting to be president,” Ibe said. “The delegates of the party will, at the appropriate time, determine who will be the presidential candidate. That is DEMOCRACY — as opposed to Tinubu’s DICTATORSHIP — at work.”
Ibe, who has never hidden his disapproval of the APC-led government, slammed President Bola Tinubu for what he described as “a monumental failure” since taking over power.
“The ADC Coalition leaders are angry with the mess that Tinubu has made of Nigeria,” he wrote. “They’re angry at how the material condition of the average citizen has deteriorated… at the skyrocketing prices of food… that even the minimum wage cannot buy a bag of rice.”
He also pointed fingers at the worsening insecurity under the current administration, accusing Tinubu of allowing terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers to thrive.
