In a statement released by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the incident involved an attempt by the music icon to board a ValueJet flight (VK 201) to Lagos with a prohibited liquid substance, which was later identified as alcohol.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has linked popular Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, to a safety breach that occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

“During boarding, the passenger attempted to carry an unidentified liquid substance on board despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel and the flight captain,” the statement read.

Citing Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) and ICAO Annex 17 guidelines, FAAN emphasized that liquids exceeding 100ml are not permitted through security checks unless medically necessary and properly declared.

The agency stated that despite being informed of this rule, the passenger refused to comply and proceeded to spill the contents of the flask—alcohol—on an airline security officer when asked to step aside for further clarification.

The flight captain intervened but was also met with resistance. Following boarding completion, the musician reportedly moved to the front of the aircraft and refused to vacate the area, leading to his removal by AVSEC’s crime unit for further questioning.

He was later released.

FAAN reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing aviation safety and security standards, regardless of social status or celebrity, and stated that a full investigation is underway.

Any individuals found culpable will be held accountable according to the law.

“We will not tolerate any actions that compromise operational integrity or undermine aviation safety,” the agency said.
