Justin Madugu, head coach of Nigeria’s women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, has been nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or Women’s Team Coach of the Year award.
Madugu earned the nomination after guiding the Super Falcons to victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which took place in Morocco.
His achievement has drawn widespread recognition, including commendations and rewards from President Bola Tinubu and the Governor of Adamawa State.
He is nominated alongside Sonia Bompastor, Arthur Elias, Renée Slegers, and Sarina Wiegman.
At the conclusion of the WAFCON tournament, Madugu was named Coach of the Tournament. Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade was awarded Player of the Tournament, while goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie won the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award.
The nomination highlights Nigeria’s growing influence and success in international women’s football.
