Amaechi boasts: I will defeat Tinubu for sure if I get ADC ticket

Former Minister of Transport, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has promised that he will reveal how politicians rig elections in Nigeria if he get the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress ADC. Amaechi, who is also a former governor of Rivers State also promised to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election if he gets the presidential ticket of ADC.
Amaechi is one of the politicians in the ADC who had indicated interest in contesting for the 2027 presidential ticket of the party
The others are Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of Labour Party and PDP in the 2023 election respectively.
Amaechi contested for the 2023 presidential ticket of APC, but he lost to President Tinubu. He recently resigned from APC to join ADC.
Ha has also promised to spend only four years of one-term president in office if elected as president in in 2027.
This, he said will allow the presidency to return to the North in 2031.
Speaking on X Spaces on Saturday, the former Minister claimed he that he has never participated in election rigging.
He said this was why he had always refused to be part of election planning committees constituted by the APC.
Amaechi said though he has never contested election against Tinubu, he knows the president very well and will not have any problem defeating him in the 2027 election if he get the APC ticket.
“I tell you, I’ve not had an election against Tinubu. I know Tinubu very well. I know his strengths. I know his weaknesses. And I know that if allowed to fly the flag of ADC, I will defeat Tinubu for sure,” he said.
“I challenge any politician, living or dead, to come forward and say I was part of rigging.
“In fact, all the appointments given to me by APC to join election planning committees, I have refused to participate.
“There was no one I participated in. Why? Because I know what they discuss. I listen to them. I hear them. If I get the ticket, I will reveal those things.”
However, revealed that state governors and government agencies are part of the election rigging structure in Nigeria.
“I don’t want to say it until I win primaries,” he said.
The former Rivers governor also said he will not rig election to defeta Tinubu if he clinched the APC presidential ticket. Rather, he said he will work against stopping electoral malpractices in the country if elected.
“I will never participate in any rigging whatsoever, and I will not do it. What I promise to do now, going forward, is to stop rigging,” he said.
He also challenge Nigerians to provide evidence that he has participated in any crime, including election rigging.
He promised to tender apology if any such evidence can be provided.
Amaechi also claimed that Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), won in Rivers state during the 2023 election.
“I would agree to an extent that Peter Obi won in Rivers state, but unfortunately, the result that came out was different. How it happened, I have no idea,” he said.Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has given a condition to support whoever emerges as the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate.
He however promise to support any ADC’s presidential candidate that emerged from a free and fair primary election to unseat Tinubu.
“In a free and fair primary, whoever wins will have my full support. I will be deeply devoted to the campaign and will do everything in my ability to help ADC unseat this current clueless government.
