How I survived sex tape leak, heartbreak – Tiwa Savage

Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has reflected on one of the lowest points in her life and career, revealing how she overcame the 2021 leak of her s*x tape and the death of her father.

Speaking in a YouTube interview with Zeze Mills, the singer described the period as a double blow that tested her resilience.

“My dad died and my s3x tape was released. The only way I could have survived was not to think about it,” she said, explaining that she refused to dwell on the incident despite public scrutiny and blackmail threats.

Savage expressed gratitude for the opportunity to tell her story years later, adding: “Just the fact that people still want to hear what I have to say after how many years feels good. I’ve gone through so much, but have I really enjoyed the moment?”

The “Somebody’s Son” crooner also spoke candidly about her love life, admitting she has never experienced what she considers true love.

“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Every time I look back at my relationships, I realise it wasn’t love — it was just infatuation. Even when I was married, I don’t think I experienced true love,” she said.
