Nigerian actress Lilian Afegbai has spoken about the struggles she faced in her acting career, revealing how she was often overlooked for great roles despite her talent.
In an interview with PulseNG, Afegbai disclosed that friends within the film industry repeatedly cast her as an extra instead of giving her the lead or supporting roles she was qualified for.
“People that I know, friends in the production industry, cast me as an extra and not an actor,” she said.
“It’s different when you play a cameo in a film, but when it becomes a norm that your friends casting for a big production forget that you are an actor and when you remind them, they say you should come and play extra. They were comfortable with me playing extra.”
