President Bola Tinubu has described Chief Audu Ogbeh a former Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Communications who died on Saturday as a patriot whose wisdom, dedication, and pursuit of progress left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political landscape.

The President said this in a statement issued on his behalf by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga to condole with the government and people of Benue State on the passing of Ogbeh.

Ogbeh who was 78 years old, served Nigeria in several administrations, including as Minister of Communications in the Second Republic and later as Minister of Agriculture under President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ogbeh, who joined politics in the 70s as a legislator, was also a former chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and a founding member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

President Tinubu acknowledged late Ogbeh’s intellectual contributions to policy formulation and his articulation of practical solutions to complex national challenges.

“He was always ready with facts and figures to support his propositions. The nation will sorely miss his insightful perspectives and wealth of experience”, President Tinubu said while commiserating with the late statesman’s family, friends and associates.

“Chief Audu Ogbeh was a patriot whose wisdom, dedication, and pursuit of progress left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political landscape. He was always ready with facts and figures to support his propositions. The nation will sorely miss his insightful perspectives and wealth of experience”, President Tinubu says.

The President prayed that the Almighty God will receive the departed’s soul, and comfort his family.

The family of the late Ogbeh who was also the Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) announced his passage on Saturday morning.

The family, in the statement said the former Chairman of the ACF died peacefully today (Saturday) at the age of 78.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Chief Audu Ogbeh.

The family said Ogbeh departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, service, and dedication to our nation and community.

The family added that details for the funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.
