Tiwa Savage: How I survived my dad’s death and sex tape scandal

Afrobeats queen, Tiwa Savage, has revisited the darkest chapter of her life, which is losing her father and the world watching her private moment leak online.

Speaking with British media personality Zeze Mills on YouTube, Tiwa recalled 2021 as a year that almost broke her. Her father had just passed away when her sex tape  which she had earlier warned was being used to blackmail her, surfaced online.

“My dad died and my sex tape was released. The only way I could have survived was not to think about it,” she said, admitting she simply blocked it out to stay sane.

Despite the storm, Tiwa said sitting for the interview felt like a blessing. “Just the fact that you even want to talk to me, people still want to hear what I have to say after all these years… I’ve gone through so much, but have I really enjoyed the moment?” she asked.

On matters of the heart, the You4me hitmaker dropped another bombshell: she has never experienced true love except from her son, Jamil.

“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Looking back at all my relationships, I was just infatuated. Even when I was married, I don’t think it was true love,” she confessed.

Tiwa Savage was married to her former manager, Tunji “Teebillz” Balogun, from 2013 to 2018. Their marriage produced Jamil, now her greatest source of love.
