Hearn admitted the idea of this match is unusual and believes it would be very risky for Paul
Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, says YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul is the leading candidate to face Joshua in his next fight. This would be Joshua’s first match since losing to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
Joshua had elbow surgery in May and is planning to return to the ring in late 2025. Since then, Jake Paul has fought and beaten older boxing legends Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Hearn said:
“As strange as it sounds, Jake Paul is the main option for Joshua’s next fight. I’m in New York right now to talk about it with Jake’s team.”
Hearn admitted the idea of this match is unusual and believes it would be very risky for Paul:
“It’s crazy. Jake Paul and his team actually believe he can beat AJ. They think Joshua is weaker now, especially after his loss and surgery. But I’ve warned them—this is not a magic show. Joshua is one of the hardest punchers in the sport.”
He added that the fight would draw massive attention and break records:
“This fight would be huge commercially. I honestly think it could happen at the start of 2026.
