Fayemi blasts rumours linking him, Amaechi to Anti-Tinubu ADC ‘coalition’

Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has rubbished claims that he teamed up with ex-Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, to form an African Democratic Congress (ADC) “coalition” against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement released on Sunday, signed by Ahmed Sajoh, Head of the Fayemi Media Organisation, the former APC chairman described the reports as baseless fabrications flying around social media.

“We have found no credible evidence to support this story,” the statement read. “There’s no video of Hon. Amaechi making such claims, no reputable media report, nothing but a social media echo chamber.”

Fayemi accused mischief-makers of twisting or manufacturing statements to provoke political drama and warned Nigerians to be wary of viral posts without credible sources.

“Dr. Fayemi is a committed member of the All Progressives Congress. He has, at various public forums, reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and to advancing its progressive ideals for Nigeria. Nothing has changed,” the statement insisted.

To drive the point home, the former governor pointed out that he has openly endorsed Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for re-election under the APC banner proof, he said, of his total commitment to the party.

The statement also stressed that while Fayemi regularly engages in high-level discussions on Nigeria’s future with friends and associates across political lines, “such conversations do not amount to defection.”

“If Dr. Fayemi were to leave the APC, he has the courage to say so publicly he does not need a third party to speak for him,” Sajoh declared.

Fayemi’s camp further explained that his perceived “low profile” at the national level is due to his work as a visiting professor at King’s College London and as founder of the Amandla Institute. In Ekiti, they say, he remains very much in the trenches — attending APC leadership caucus meetings and publicly backing the governor’s second-term bid.

The statement ended with a warning: “Nigerians should treat any political story about Dr. Fayemi with extreme caution — especially when it originates solely from social media.”
