Jack Grealish joins Everton on loan from Manchester City
Everton Football Club has reached an agreement with Manchester City for the season-long loan of English winger Jack Grealish, sources confirmed.
The 29-year-old, who has struggled for game time at City, was notably absent from the squad for the Premier League finale against Fulham and the Club World Cup in the United States.
Reports indicate that Grealish, earning around £300,000 weekly at City, is expected to undergo a medical examination imminently as the final step before the move is completed.
Grealish joined Manchester City in August 2021 from Aston Villa for a British record fee of £100 million. Since then, he has made over 150 appearances, contributing to City’s haul of three Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, and an FA Cup win.
However, last season proved difficult for the midfielder, who started only seven league matches as City ended the campaign trophyless. His role diminished further when manager Pep Guardiola chose Argentine youngster Claudio Echeverri over him in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.
Initially, Grealish sought a permanent transfer this summer but has now settled for a loan move to Everton. While he preferred to join a club competing in the Champions League—interest from Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly failed to materialize—he has opted for Everton to revitalize his career.
Though Everton does not offer European football this season, the move presents Grealish with a fresh start and the opportunity to become a key figure at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The England international will also be eager to reclaim his spot in the national team after expressing heartbreak over his omission from the 2024 European Championship squad.
