Nollywood stars battling for their lives

The Nigerian Film Industry, also known as Nollywood has been producing both global and national stars for decades. However, some of these faces slowly become forgotten as soon as they are no longer in the spotlight. A few of them venture into other industries while some become victims of ill health. From Mr Ibu to Tom Njemanze, the Nollywood industry has lost popular faces to sickness and ill health.

Here are some Nollywood stars currently battling for their lives:

1. Clem Ohameze

Nollywood Veteran Clem Ohameze was reported to have suffered a cervical vertebrae breakdown. The x-ray from the hospital showed that his cervical vertebrae 3 had collapsed on 4, and was causing pressure on his spinal cord thereby causing the retardment of the lower limb. The actor however was seen online during a TikTok live, for the first time in years.

2. Kenneth Aguba

Veteran actor Kenneth Aguba, who was rescued from homelessness about four years ago, is now facing a grave health challenge: prostate cancer. The diagnosis came in early 2025, and he currently attends weekly hospital consultations.

3. Prince Emeka Ani

Actor Prince Emeka Ani is reportedly battling severe chronic illnesses, including kidney disease and diabetes. According to social media reports, his condition is deteriorating and may require an urgent transplant. A public appeal for support is ongoing .

“For three solid years, I was suffering from this diabetic sore around my buttocks. From there, I had a partial stroke. During the partial stroke, I had eye problems; so many things came up and I was running helter-skelter, from one pole to the other, but Almighty God was on my side and that was how I got saved,” he said i an interview with The Sun.

4. Ifeanyi Ezeokeke

Known as “Ugo Shave Me,” Ifeanyi Ezeokeke is seriously ill with a mysterious condition. Colleagues have made public requests for assistance. Some social media commentary suggests spiritual connotations, but precise medical details remain undisclosed .

5. Don Richard

After quitting smoking and alcohol, actor Don Richard recently experienced a sudden health scare. He publicly shared that he is currently battling kidney disease. The actor publicly appealed for financial assistance to cover the cost of his treatment. He also revealed that he had sold his car and properties to fund medical expenses but it could not suffice.
