What Rooney told me before I joined Everton – Jack Grealish

England star Jack Grealish has opened up on his first conversation with Wayne Rooney before sealing his loan move to Everton from Manchester City.

The 29-year-old winger was officially unveiled on Tuesday after agreeing to a season-long deal with a £50 million buy option.

Speaking after his unveiling, Grealish revealed that he reached out to Everton legend Rooney before making the switch, and their chat left a lasting impression.

“I spoke to Wayne Rooney before I came here and I mentioned that to him – about the number 18 – so I hope he’s happy as well!” Grealish said.

Grealish, who struggled for regular minutes under Pep Guardiola last season, said he is eager to get back to his best at Goodison Park and repay the faith Everton have shown in him.
